How to View Your iTunes Purchase History in 2026

Blog · 3 min read

Apple retired iTunes years ago, splitting it into Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Podcasts. But if you've been an Apple user for any length of time, you probably have years of purchases tied to your old iTunes account. The good news is that those purchases haven't disappeared — they've just moved.

Where Did Your iTunes Purchases Go?

Everything you bought through iTunes is still linked to your Apple ID. Apple simply reorganised where things live:

  • Music — Now in the Apple Music app (or Music app on Mac)
  • Films and TV shows — Now in the Apple TV app
  • Apps — Accessible through the App Store
  • Books and audiobooks — In the Apple Books app
  • Purchase receipts — Available through your Apple ID account settings

Viewing Purchase History on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap Media & Purchases
  4. Tap View Account (you may need to sign in)
  5. Tap Purchase History

This shows all purchases across apps, music, films, and other media — going back to the very beginning of your account.

Finding Really Old Purchases

Apple's purchase history can go back over 15 years if you've had your account that long. To find older items, use the date range selector in your purchase history to scroll back further. Each page typically shows 90 days of transactions.

Downloading Old Purchases Again

One of the benefits of digital purchases is that you can re-download them at any time:

  • Apps — Open the App Store, tap your profile, then Purchased
  • Music — Open Apple Music, go to Library, then look for download options
  • Films — Open Apple TV, go to Library

Note that some apps may no longer be available if the developer removed them from the store, but your purchase record will still exist.

What About iTunes Gift Card History?

If you topped up your account with iTunes gift cards, those transactions are also part of your history. They'll appear as "Apple ID balance top-up" or similar entries.
